New Week

I feel like my brain is going to explode if I revise any more! I hope this parchment is good enough, because I've been staring at it so long I've practically gone cross-eyed.

But I'm not complaining, we've had loads of fun things going on, like revue practise and YPL and most especially Hogsmeade.

Somehow being out in the village feels different from being in the castle, even if you're seeing the same people. We're less divided by House or year, and sometimes you can be surprised by a conversation with someone you've never really talked to much before, as well as having familiar good times with old House friends and others.

And of course, it brings out everyone's high spirits: whoever slipped Hiccup Sweets into my Honeydukes order had better watch his their back--I have a Nose-Biting Teacup and I'm not afraid to use it!

It has really flown by!

We've had our first rehearsals for the spring revue, and I'm really excited about singing the part of Agnes! We're still in the early stages though--no pun intended! Mr Krumgold had a lot of notes for me, so I have a lot to work on. I just keep reminding myself that he wouldn't have chosen me for the part if he didn't think I could do it.

In some ways, though, I think the people who have the hardest job are going to be our costumers and stagewizards. They're making us look like real Hogwarts students from different eras, and Greengrass and Moon are putting a lot of effort into making everything look authentic!

And of course, all of us in O.W.L. year this year are already starting to think about our exams in the spring. I'm trying to think about them just enough that to be diligent in my revising and not so much that I start to panic!

Our YPL project in the village schools should be interesting, although I suppose there won't be time to paint murals or anything like that, which would be wizard. My mum owled me to say that she thought a group might be coming to her school in New London, even though it's not technically a village.

Charms!

I got an O on my Charms exam!  It almost balances out that awful P in Potions.   I'm trying to revise more for the subjects I don't like this term, instead of just the ones that I do.

But it's so much nicer to revise when I'm actually interested in the subject.  Sometimes I wish Hogwarts had classes in music or writing stories or that sort of thing. But then other times I think it might take the fun out of them.

Imagine if you had to read novels and then write 13 inches of  parchment about them for lessons!

Marks

I was pretty certain that I didn't do very well on the Potions exam because several of my potions were the wrong colour and a couple of them didn't smell right either, but I didn't think I did that badly.  I almost got a T!  The only reason I didn't was because Zacharias helped me revise, and he's good at coming up with little tricks to make things like lists of ingredients stick in a persons head.  I'm glad he and Ernie did well.

I guess I had better revise instead of going to Pansy's music party tonight.

I hope the rest of my marks will be better.
